Whispering pines : a novel

Summary: When sixteen-year-old Bryn Wilson looks in the mirror she sees an unattractive girl with a big nose and small chest whose disengaged and unpredictable family leave her feeling depressed and insignificant. Bryn relies on her tightly knit circle of friends. There's Jon Wright (aka Midnight), a soft-hearted, sentimental young man wise beyond his years; Claire, a beauty in the traditional sense who lacks confidence and feels invisible in a household with nine siblings; and Claire's brother Wally, a tender and affable fellow. Despite the camaraderie, Bryn aches for someone special in her life. Then one spring afternoon when looking to escape yet another argument between her mother and brother, she heads toward Claire's house, but gets sidetracked. That fork in the road alters her life and the foursome is faced with sweeping revelations that will test their friendship and define their lives as they navigate the turbulent road from adolescence into adulthood.
