When women lead : what they achieve, why they succeed, and how we can learn from them / Julia Boorstin.

Boorstin, Julia, (author.).

Summary:
When Julia Boorstin was thirteen, her mother told her that, by the time she grew up, women could be just as powerful as men. Ten years later, working at a top business publication and seeing the dearth of women in positions of leadership, Boorstin doubted her mother's certainty. Gender discrimination, workplace misconduct, and an imbalanced power ratio had carried over into the new millennium, and it didn't seem like there was a clear path to resolution. That is, until two decades later, when she was working as a reporter at CNBC, Boorstin noticed a shift: women were suddenly rising to positions of corporate leadership, and entrepreneurs who defied the standard male Silicon Valley archetype were making seats for themselves at the table, creating innovative companies to disrupt every kind of industry, from health care to retail to online dating. The obstacles were still there, but it felt like more women had figured out how to confront and overcome them to find their own paths to success. As Boorstin studied these women more closely, she began to figure out how, and why.
